Our Mission & Vision

Raising The Cross Where The Poor & Needy Are Found

Our primary mission as a Church is to bring individuals into a saving relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our mission also includes developing programs that address the enduring plight of young Blacks in America.

Nearly one million Black men are behind bars. Homicide is the number one cause of death for young Black males. 50% of all Black men in their 20’s are unemployed. Nearly 70% of Black children are born to unwed mothers. In America’s inner cities, more than 50% of Blacks will not finish high school.

We have worked for many years to impact the lives of these vulnerable young adults. Our Rising Hope Project is a central component of the vision of our church.

If you are looking for an opportunity to get busy for God – Greater Works is the Church for you! Jesus said, “He that believes in me, the works that I do, shall he do also; and GREATER WORKS than these shall he do” (John 14:12)

What We Believe

N

We are a non-denominational Christian church with strong roots in the Baptist, Methodist (AME), and Pentecostal traditions.

N

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

N

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth as Savior of the world.

N

We believe Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins.

N

We believe that salvation is found by placing our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross.

N

We believe Jesus rose from the dead and is coming again.

N

We believe in water baptism and that it is a symbol of the cleansing power of the blood of Christ and a testimony to our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

N

We believe in the regular taking of Communion as an act of remembering what the Lord Jesus did for us on the cross. We believe that the entire Bible is inspired by God - without error. It is the authority on which we base our faith, conduct and doctrine.
